"For too long we have treated violence with violence, and that's why it never ends."*

"Field, you had a lot to say about Troy Davis. Why nothing about the white man who was put to death yesterday in Texas?"

Oh yes, Lawrence Brewer, the white supremacist who was tried and convicted of dragging James Byrd, Jr. to death. (Shout out to Dick Gregory for being in Huntsville, Texas and protesting the death of even this scumbag.)

He should not have been killed by the state of Texas. (Derrick Mason should not be put to death tonight in Alabama.) I do not believe in the death penalty.Period. (I like what Coretta Scott King said about the subject.*heading*)) Killing this scumbag will not bring James Byrd, Jr. back, he should have spent the rest of his miserable life in prison.

Unlike Troy Davis, he admitted to killing Byrd, and he was proud of it:

"As far as any regrets, no, I have no regrets. No, I'd do it all over again, to tell you the truth."

Sorry there big guy,you won't be doing much of anything ever again. But still, I did not want you to die at the hands of the state. As far as I am concerned, being raped over and over by Tyrone and Bubba would have been punishment enough for you.

Anyway, I was thinking about who actually puts the needle in Troy Davis, and Lawrence Brewer, or who is on the firing squad in Utah. Or, who is the hangman in Washington -Lawrence O'Donnell talked about it tonight.- Who does a job like that?

"So what do you do for a living? Ahhm...I work for the department of corrections. Really? What department? Ahhm......."

Poor guy. How does he live with himself?

Finally, speaking of playing executioner. I am glad that those animals masquerading as cops who allegedly murdered that homeless man in California while he was in custody were charged with murder and manslaughter.

Not so fast gentlemen, we have to have a trial and convict him first.

The greatest threat.

There must be some really bad stuff in the air around here. Just this weekend a man went all Musashi on his family in a [upper]middle class neighborhood right outside of Philadelphia:

"Montgomery County prosecutors have charged a 23-year-old man with fatally stabbing his father, mother, and twin brother.

Joseph McAndrew Jr. was arrested Saturday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder related to the stabbing deaths of Joseph C. McAndrew, 70; Susan C. McAndrew, 64; and James D. McAndrew, 23, in the family's Upper Merion home.

King of Prussia District Justice William I. Maruszczak said McAndrew did not speak at his araignment Sunday morning. He is being held without bail.

Neighbors said police arrived late Saturday, and four police cars were at the house on Holstein Road when one neighbor arrived home at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. "It's traumatic and very shocking," said the man, 23, who had attended Upper Merion schools with the brothers.

Speaking of Joseph Jr., the neighbor said, "I played soccer with him growing up. I never thought that anything was possible." The man asked not to be identified. He said the family had lived in the house for more than 20 years.

According to a police affidavit, all three were killed by "multiple cuts and lacerations" in the house, where police found several knives and a "samurai-style sword," the Norristown Times Herald reported. The two-story, white-stucco home is on a narrow, two-lane road."

Yes, we never think certain things are possible with certain types of people. I mean just when you think you know someone...Anyway, clearly this young man had some serious issues and it's sad that it had to come to this. But hey, nothing surprises me anymore in A-merry-ca.

Finally, because nothing surprises me anymore, I shouldn't be surprised to hear that a certain wingnuut politician wants to have hearings on the "radicalization" of Islam in A-merry-ca.

"Rep. Peter King said Sunday he'll hold hearings on the "radicalization of the American Muslim community" - but some critics fear an anti-Islamic witchhunt.

King (R-L.I.) said a Congressional probe is needed because Al Qaeda has increasingly targeted Muslims living legally in the United States as potential terror recruits.

Despite the threat to their own community, King said, some Islamic clerics resist cooperating with investigators.

"We want to assess the extent of the radicalization of the Muslim community," he said. "It's clear to me there has not been sufficient cooperation."

"With Al Qaeda trying to recruit from within their community, it's important that they cooperate," said King, who will be chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security in the new Republican-controlled Congress. King's call drew fire from Muslim groups, who said they fear the hearings will only fuel bigotry and hatred."

This is what happens when you give wingnuts the power over anything; they abuse it. Good luck with those hearings Mr. King. I hope you get a chance to weed out all those radicals and crazies living among us. Although I think you might want to start with the crazy people living among our own families, first.

The black guy did it.... again.

At what point are you white folks going to learn that you just can't cry the black guy did it anymore? I mean come on! This is really getting old. I bet folks in law enforcement see red flags now when white folks say the black guy did it. This is not good. If I were a white guy (or gal) I would be pissed. What happens when the black guy really jacks me and takes my Subaru station wagon? Will the po po think that I am crying wolf?

"Joseph C. Vignola Jr., son of a former Philadelphia city councilman and controller, pleaded guilty Monday to beating an 18-year-old woman he met on a website and slashing her throat in a City Avenue hotel room...He had been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and possession of an instrument of crime in the May 28, 2008, attack, in which he had left the woman for dead. ...In detailing the case against him, Assistant District Attorney Robert Foster said evidence, including DNA and confessions to police, linked him to the attack.
Vignola met the woman on Craigslist's "erotic services" section in May 2008, Foster said. The two got together at the North American Motor Inn on City Avenue about 9 p.m. that May 28.

The two had consensual sex, then began to argue. Vignola punched the woman in the throat and pinned her to the floor, sitting on her abdomen and placing his knees on her arms until she was unconscious. With a knife, he made a six-inch slash on the right side of her neck.

Vignola then took back the money he had given the woman and left her for dead in the hotel room.

Before confessing to police, Vignola blamed the attack on a "light-skinned black man" who burst into the room as he and the woman were having sex. "

Damn! Even light skinned brothers can't catch a break.

Joseph, good luck come sentencing day, the judge in your case is black. [Article]

Finally, I want to talk about that brother down in Florida on the school bus. (Thanks for the link Reena.) I have been getting a few e-mails about this case with folks wanting to know my opinion, so I will give it:

I have absolutely no problem with what that brotha did. I am sure he regrets threatening the little rug- rats on the bus, but honestly, I am guessing a lot of you would have done the same thing. I don't have kids and I can empathize with the guy, so I am sure that those of you who do have kids feel for this man as well.

His child has special needs and the little rug rats were teasing and harassing her on the bus. At some point dude said enough and just snapped. He realized what he did was wrong and he apologized. No harm no foul as far as I am concerned. Yeah but field, what if that was your child on the bus he threatened to kill? I would have first asked my child if he or she was one of the kids teasing that little girl. If she was not, I would have had a civil man to man discussion with James Willie Jones and I am sure it would have been all good. If he or she was one of the kids teasing that little girl, I would have apologized and still had that man to man discussion with Willie. Again, I am sure it would have been all good. Two brothers who care about their children just working things out.
Monroe, I am with you on this one. We need more men like James Willie Jones out there.

Please make your checks payable to Rev. Harry....

Last night a posted about a sister in Germany who had unprotected sex and failed to tell her partners. Well tonight, I am sad to report, that two can play that game.
"A U.S. Air Force sergeant infected with HIV is under criminal suspicion for allegedly failed to inform a “multitude” of sexual partners about his medical status, The Smoking Gun reported Thursday.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations reportedly launched a criminal probe last month after receiving information that Sgt. David Gutierrez, 43, “engaged in numerous, unprotected sexual acts…over the course of three years.”

Gutierrez, stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan., was apprehended on Aug. 9 for allegedly violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the website reported. Investigators then reportedly searched his home to “identify potential witnesses and victims.”

Shame on you David. You should be protecting this country from weapons of mass destruction, not making your johnson become one.

Tomorrow my man Glenn Beck will have his "I HAVE A SCHEME" rally in Washington D.C., and I hear that Albert Pujols along with his fraud of a manager will be participating. Now I am starting to believe that maybe he did juice up,(don't sue me Albert, it's just an opinion) because only someone who is not in his right mind would think that this event is not political. Albert, just make sure you have your green card.

But I can't hate on Albert for attending as I can the next clown I am going to write about. Albert Pujols is a baseball player, so maybe he doesn't have time to read much. Harry R. Jackson, Jr., on the other hand, is supposed to be a man of god, so he should know better. Sadly, it would appear that he does not:

"The only question I have is whether the events of this weekend will lead to more of the same old race-based politics of the past or not. You know exactly what I am talking about. Further, I am concerned that everything is set in motion to create a political stalemate - the PR equivalent of two people attempting to shout over one another to impress a third party.

At this critical juncture in history, all Americans need solution-based moral and political leadership. We need to break the historically tainted lenses through which we view our collective moral and political decisions. African Americans are at an even more acutely strategic moment. Having slipped to the second most numerous minority African-American civic and moral leaders must decide to exert their political power and become a conscience to both Democrats and Republicans.

If only 18 to 20 percent of black voters feel at liberty to vote their values, blacks could become the swing vote that changes the destiny of our nation - race by race, candidate by candidate. The most natural unifying alliance that African Americans could build is with white and Hispanic evangelicals, who share their core values and worldview. With this kind of radical new alignment, new approaches to our most pressing problems could be developed and tested. Our newly defined “good guys” of whatever party could begin to emerge. Wishful thinking? Perhaps.
Yet this weekend we are celebrating the legacy of the ultimate dreamer, whose famed words moved him from being seen as a national security threat to center stage of the nation’s value system. Forty-seven years after the speech, everyone wants to be identified with the passion, power, and purpose of his message. In order to make real moral and political change possible in 2010, once again some black leaders have to wander off the “political plantation” upon which their people currently reside - the Democratic Party.

Therefore, although I have very close friends and associates on both sides, I have chosen to participate with Glenn Beck and to attempt to build the new coalition I have just discussed. Rallying with Beck may temporarily bring a backlash of ridicule and rebuke to many of the black civic and religious leaders who join me. Long term, however, the courage of these leaders will point the way and embolden others. Despite any personal discomfort, we feel that it is time to make a real change. "

Let me translate that for you: I am going with who has given me... whoops, I mean my ministry, the most money. I can't wait to see who is up there jigging with you, Reverend. Brother Martin would never have sold out to the highest bidder. Shame on you and your slave catching dancing friends.

"My personal reasons for involvement in the Restoring Honor Rally are primarily moral, not political. First of all, I believe that there needs to be a spiritual alarm sounded in the nation. I am convinced that the only answer to our country’s moral freefall is another great awakening. This means that we preachers must preach to individuals with a desire to see them transformed internally and spiritually.

Second, this critical mass of faithful believers will need to start a grassroots movement to recapture the essentials of “living faith.” We then must take responsibility for the disappointing political and cultural leaders we have elected or tolerated.

I would like to encourage everyone to pray for a spiritual awakening in America, which will affect the way we vote and the way we rebuild our most cherished institution. This weekend, I will join hundreds of thousands of Christians in prayer and reflection...."

And, his prayer will sound something like this: "Dear Jesus, please help these white folks remember me, so that when I solicit them for funds they will send a check. Hey, preachers gotta eat too, lord."
