South Africa Helped Libya Collapse

It is a terribly dusty day in Kimberley and I'm working from home or trying to with all the breaking news from Libya.

Earlier this morning I watched South Africa's International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane waffle her way through a media briefing.

She defended South Africa's support for UN Resolution 1973 that essentially allowed the US and its lapdogs to remove a sovereign leader from power and reduce Libya to another vacuous Arab state with vast reserves of oil.

The Minister was clearly out of her depth and very testy when she was questioned about the wisdom behind supporting Resolution 1973 while arguing that South Africa did not intend for Libya to be bombed into submission.

What nonsense!  The ANC-led government turned their back on Gaddafi and the African Union when it joined a group of Western thugs in their bombing of Libya.

There may not have been South African bombs falling in Libya but that is hardly significant.  South Africa is responsible for waging war on a sovereign African state and causing it to collapse.  In these terms it has breached its legal obligations to the African Union but that will hardly matter.

What South Africa helped do is open the oil reserves of Libya to the West.  UN Resolution 1973 is indeed how the West goes about looting.  And though the oil is the loot they sought under the guise/concern for human rights we must not forget that Gaddafi's assets (Libya's assets) are frozen in the West and while the dust settles it will be absorbed.

This is the West at it's best: Looting, stealing, and killing black/brown skins from Iraq to Afghanistan to Libya and onwards.

And where is the resolution to step in and stop the slaughter in Syria you may be wondering.  Well you probably know that Syria has no oil.  And, it is too close to the backyard of Israel to want to inflict instability.

It is hard not to be just jaded by the course of events in Libya.  And to be so knowing that Gaddafi was/is not a saint and he should have paved a way for succession decades ago.

Please don't get me twisted here.  I am no apologist for Gaddafi.

But nothing will change in Libya.  In fact, it will get worse.  A new set of thieves in cooperation with the West will reduce Libya to the fold of Iraq.  And as it does so folks will ask just how bad Gaddafi was in the big scheme of things.

When will we learn?  When will we stop the West from plundering our lives?

I am ashamed of the leaders in South Africa who obviously are too inept to know what they have helped happen.  Where was the invasion in apartheid South Africa?  And Palestine?

Does Zuma even see the historical irony that underlies his decision to kill Libyans?

Israel bombed innocent civilians and used banned chemical weapons against Gaza and the West just turned its attention elsewhere.

Did Zuma call for a bombing invasion to remove the racist Zionists who are undoubtedly among the most severe of human rights violators in the history of the modern world?

But then Libya is not about human rights or any of the other contrived nonsense the West likes to use to show its supposed ascendency in matters of civilization.

Libya is about murderous looting and the biggest culprits are Obama, Cameron, Sarkozy, and of course the enabler, Zuma.

And we are not free.

Onward!
